RAPID CITY - Sturgis had three players shoot in the 30s as the Scoopers took top honors at the West River Challenge, which wrapped up Thursday with nine holes at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
Chase Williamson shot the low score of the day, carding an even-par 36 to lead Sturgis. Clay Koepplin shot a 38 and Tyler Hinker a 39 for the Scoopers.
Sturgis, which totaled 153 strokes on the second day of the challenge, finished with an 18-hole total of 317 to claim the team title. Rapid City Stevens was second at 322, and Rapid City Central third at 345.
Medalist honors went to Hinker, who totaled 75 strokes over the two-day challenge. Brogan Pappel of Stevens was second at 77. Third place went to Trevor Kautzman of Rapid City Central. He carded a 79 over 18 holes.
