CUSTER - Lead-Deadwood captured its 11th Black Hills Conference girls' golf championship in a row on Wednesday at the Rocky Knolls Golf Course.

The Golddiggers shot a 338 on the day as Dani Bellet led the charge, firing a 77 to capture medalist honors.

"The girls take a lot of pride in what they have accomplished as a team and work hard to push themselves every time they play," said Lead-Deadwood head coach Joan Rachetto.

The Golddiggers had already captured the Region 4A title last week on the same course.

A change was made a couple of years ago to play both the regional meet and the BHC meet on the same course.

"Dani was able to match her score from last week," said Rachetto. "I was very happy with the 338 score we had as a team, considering nobody has been outside very much with the weather."

Hot Springs finished second in the team scores with a 386, Belle Fourche was a stroke behind with a 387. Custer tallied a 397 with Douglas shooting a 503 on the day.

Lead-Deadwood's Tassy Rantapaa had an 84, with Jenessa Rantapaa contributing an 88 and Ellise Nichols shooting an 89 for the 'Diggers who will be vying for their fifth straight state Class A title next week at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

"Both our juniors, Tassy and Jenessa Rantapaa, have been getting their scores down and they have been playing very consistent golf the last month and Ellise broke 90, it was a great team effort," said Rachetto.

Emilie Palo had a 93 to pace Hot Springs with Schuyler Wetzel adding a 95 and Cassidy Vollmer a 96.

Cordelia Bowmen paced Belle Fourche with an 89 with Ashley Watson and Rachel Sacrison shooting 93 and 98 respectively.

Custer's Claire Carson led the Wildcats with a 91 with Galen Himrich at 92 and Haley Davenport at 106.

Douglas was led by Brooke Schafer's 97.

Jordan Trohkimoinen had a 90 for Newell, Danielle Kerr had an 86 for St. Thomas More and Erin Jarvis shot a 112 for Hill City, as the three teams did not field a full team of four golfers.
