Area scene: Coyote Golf Tour to stop in Rapid City

VERMILLION - The University of South Dakota athletic department has announced the five dates and locations for the 2008 Coyote Golf Tour.

The USD athletic department will host five tour events throughout the spring and summer. All fans, friends, supporters and alumni of the University of South Dakota are invited to participate in this year's tournament. The tour will feature Coyote coaches and administrators.

The five-city tour will kick off on Monday, May 19 at the Dakota Dunes Country Club at Dakota Dunes. The tour will include stops in Vermillion, Mitchell, Rapid City and will wrap up in Sioux Falls at the Prairie Green Golf Course on August 23.

The Rapid City stop is Friday, July 11 at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

The entry fee is $100. The price includes green fees, cart rentals, meal and prizes. All five tour events will begin at 1 p.m.

Other tour dates include May 19 at Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes; June 6 at Bluff's Golf Course in Vermillion; June 27 at Wild Oaks Golf Club, in Mitchell and August 23 at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls.

Fun run to benefit Youth & Family Services

RAPID CITY - Adults and children are encouraged to lace up their tennis shoes Friday for the South Dakota School Counselor Association's 2008 Fun Run-Walk.

Half of the proceeds will benefit Youth & Family Services programs. Modern Woodmen of America will match the proceeds given to YFS.

The two-mile run-walk begins at 7 a.m. in the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn Lobby. Refreshments will be served at the end of the course.
