FOOTBALL: Top five teams in all six classes remain the same in SDSWA high school football polls.
The top five teams in all six classes of South Dakota high school football remained the same in Week 4 of the South Dakota Sportswriters Association polls.
The only change in any of the polls came in Class 9B where last week's No. 2-ranked team, Dell Rapids St. Mary, fell to fourth place after a loss to Class 9A No. 3 Estelline. Viborg, last week's No. 4 team in Class 9B, moved up to No. 2.
Rapid City Stevens received votes in the Class 11AA rankings for the first time this season as did Belle Fourche in Class 11A. Both teams lost close games to top-five teams in their respective classes last week.
St. Thomas More (Class 11A) and Winner (Class 11B) stayed No. 2 in their respective polls and received one first-place vote apiece. Those two teams will not remain unbeaten after this weekend, however, as they are scheduled to meet Friday night at 5 p.m. at Dutton Field in Rapid City. The Warriors ended the Cavaliers' season in the Class 11A playoffs last year before being reclassified to Class 11B for the 2009 season.
Lyman and Philip remained No. 3 and No. 5 in Class 9AA, respectively. The No. 5-ranked Scotties have their first big test of the season this week with a trip to unbeaten Wall at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Stanley County (3-1) received votes in Class 11B after knocking off Class 11A Custer at last weekend's Prospector Bowl in Deadwood, 25-14.
Harding County (3-0) remained No. 4 in the Class 9A ranks.
