CUSTER - The St. Thomas More football team bounced back from last week's loss to Winner in a big way by racking up more than 500 yards in total offense against Custer in a 51-10 Black Hills Conference victory Thursday night.

Cavalier quarterback Jared Jacobson threw for 411 yards and three touchdowns, while running for another.

"We found out what we can do tonight, we can spread the field," said St. Thomas More head coach Wayne Sullivan. "What we have in our receiving core are three juniors that are athletes, and that is a blessing at the 'A' level. If our line moves their feet and we have time, we have a quarterback that can put it there."

The Cavaliers wasted little time getting the ball in the hands of those receivers on Thursday night. Jacobson found a wide open Parker Sullivan on the first offensive play of the game for 45 yards. Three plays later on fourth-and-17, Jacobson again hooked up with Parker Sullivan on a 37-yard touchdown strike, giving the Cavaliers the early 7-0 lead.

Parker Sullivan nabbed his second touchdown catch just minutes into the second quarter when Jacobson hit him streaking down the middle of the field, Parker Sullivan juked one man and coasted into the end zone for a 68-yard score.

Custer kept it close in the beginning of the game, getting a field goal in the first quarter after a Cavalier fumble, and later scored on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Luke Roddy to Brandon Miller, making the score 14-10.

However, the St. Thomas More defense clamped down, forcing two Wildcat fumbles.

The offense added three more touchdowns in the first half, two off turnovers. Jacobson scampered for a 20-yard touchdown run, and threw for another to Mike Regan. Tyler Kok, filling in for an injured Zach Cimburek, also rushed for a 2-yard score. St. Thomas More led 34-10 at the half.

Kok rushed 14 times for 64 yards on the night, and added two more rushing touchdowns in the second half.

"In high school you have to run the ball," said Coach Sullivan. "We're finding ways to run it out of our spread, and were getting more effective. Kok stepped up today and found the end zone. It starts with controlling the line of scrimmage, and tonight we passed to set up our run, but later it may be the other way around."

The St. Thomas More defense did the rest, forcing two more turnovers in the second half, and held the Wildcats to just two first downs while giving up only 35 yards.

St. Thomas More (5-1 overall, 4-0 BHC) hosts Bennett County, while Custer (2-3, 0-3) travels to Lead-Deadwood. Both games are next Friday.
