STURGIS - Sturgis scored three first half goals and then kept Douglas in check as the Scoopers posted a 3-0 win in boys soccer action on a warm Thursday evening at East-West Field.

"We (Douglas) seem to always start slow and let the other team get an advantage on us," Patriots' coach Weyland Anderson said. "Goalkeeper Zac Fogel was busy making saves for most of the first half.

"Our defense stepped up better in the second half. The last 60 minutes were well-played."

Kurt Wilson opened the scoring for Sturgis in the fifth minute. Randy Aga followed with the Scoopers' second counter in the 10th minute. Logan Behnke closed scoring in the 30th minute when he found the net for Sturgis (2-4-2).

Douglas (0-9-0) did threaten to score a few times. One excellent shot on goal from Brooke Kobus went just over the goal.
