The Black Hills State University volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Great Falls Holiday Inn Classic on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets lost their first game to Great Falls University, 25-15,
22-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11, but rebounded to down Rocky Mountain, 20-25, 28-26, 22-25, 30-28, 15-10.
Against Rocky Mountain, Kayla Haines led the offensive attack with 15 kills, while Maggie O'Neill adding 14 of her own.
Mandy Brumfeld dished out 49 assists in the match and Carina Sweet had 26 digs. Kristin Engle was able to control the net with six blocks.
Sara Brunner paced Rocky Mountain with 23 kills.
In the opener, O'Neill led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 19 kills, and Engle added 15. Brumfield dished out 40 assists, O'Neill had 14 digs and Engle added 3-1/2 blocks.
Great Falls was led by Tosha Nunes and Marissa Stanchfield who each had 13 kills.
Black Hills State finished the opening weekend of its season with a 2-3 record.
