RAPID CITY - A seventh-inning rally in the opener sparked the Gillette, Wyo., Rough Riders to a doubleheader sweep over Post 320 on Friday at Pete Lien Field in Rapid City.

Gillette rallied from a four-run deficit in its final at-bat in the opener to post a 7-6 win in the first game. The Rough Riders completed the sweep, posting 12-3 win in the nightcap.

Rapid City starting pitcher Brad Winkelman, who went the distance in his first outing of the year, retired the first batter he faced in the Rough Riders' seventh inning before hitting the next batter. Three singles and a couple of walks later, the Rough Riders trimmed the deficit to 6-5 with one out and the bases loaded.

Gillette's Bubba Hamilton, who relieved starting pitcher Garrett Jackson in the fourth, grounded to 320 shortstop Kyle Starkey, who flipped to second baseman Chris Lindemann for the force at second, but Lindemann's relay to first was errant, allowing the go-ahead run to follow the tying run across the plate.

In the bottom of the seventh, Post 320 put the tying run on second base when Aaron Corbett drew a leadoff walk against Gillette closer Nate Kolata and was sacrificed to second base by Tyler Oberlander. But Kolata managed to work out of the jam, retiring the final two batters ending the game with a strikeout.

Post 320 was in command early. In the home half of the first inning, Lindemann led off with a triple and promptly scored on Chris Bingham's double. Walks to Starkey and Zach Cimburek loaded the bases and 320 had the makings of a big inning. However, Gillette starter Garrett Jackson managed to wriggle out of the jam by retiring the next three batters without allowing any more runs.

Post 320 seemed on their way to victory in the third when Kyle Starkey led of with one of his two doubles in the game, before Cimburek followed with a long home run to right-center field.

"I hit a fastball right down the middle of the plate, said Cimburek. "I kind of guessed that pitch pretty good."

Another run followed later in the inning when Seth Holloway doubled and right fielder Kyle Lewis drove him in with a RBI single putting 320 up 4-0.

Gillette cut into the deficit with a couple of runs in the top of the fourth, but Post 320 came right back in the bottom of the inning with a couple of runs began by a perfectly executed bunt single by Chris Bingham, a Starkey walk, and a single by Cimburek driving in his third run of the night.

Unfortunately, for Post 320, the 6-2 lead would not hold up.

In the nightcap, Gillette took command early against Post 320 (4-3) starter Josh Holloway and cruised to the 12-3 win. Cimburek provided one of the few Post 320 highlights by belting his second homer of the night and third of the season.
