DENVER - Rapid City Post 22 wrapped up play in the Cherry Creek Tournament with a 5-4 win over the host team during American Legion baseball action Sunday. The hardhats scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim the one-run victory. Cherry Creek led 2-0 after an inning, before Post 22 tied it up in the second. The Colorado squad went ahead 3-2 in the third, but Post 22 came back with two in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. Cherry Creek scored its final run in the top of the fifth to tie it at 4-all. Zach Vlietstra had a triple, a double and two RBIs for Rapid City. Justin Sawyer added a pair of hits, one of which was a two-bagger. Dustin Work hit a solo home run and also picked up the pitching win in relief, allowing one run on three hits in two innings. Nick Honke pitched a perfect seventh, striking out two batters, to get the save. Matt Skepper went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Cherry Creek. Post 22 is back in action at Mitchell on Wednesday night.
