WHITE RIVER - Matthew Bartlett tallied a double-double - 14 points and 16 rebounds - as No. 2-ranked White River defeated Western Great Plains Conference foe Wall 102-64 in boys basketball.
The Tigers held a 45-34 halftime advantage, but outscored Wall 33-14 in the third quarter to move ahead 78-48.
Louie Krogman led all scorers with 40 points including seven 3-pointers for the winners. R.J. Estes and Frankie Waln netted 11 points.
Joe Besson paced Wall with 16 points. Sid Geigle and Darick Eisenbraun scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Wall (7-7, 1-5 WGPC) hosts New Underwood tonight. White River (15-1, 4-0 WGPC) takes a week off and resumes play at Stanley County on Feb. 9.
South Central 54, Marty Indian 51
BONESTEEL - South Central came up big at the free throw line to defeat Marty Indian 54-51 on Thursday night as Andrew Tuttle scored 16 points. Marcus Warnke and Luke Tuttle chipped in 10 apiece in the win.
South Central outscored Marty 21-5 from the free throw line to make up for Marty's 17-12 edge in field goals.
The Braves led 17-14 after the first quarter but the Cougars rallied to take a 33-26 lead at the break. Marty closed to within one, 44-43 at the end of the third quarter.
Sherwin Zephier scored 23 points, and A.J. Drapeau added 12 for Marty.
South Central (3-12) will travel to play Stickney on Saturday and Marty (3-10) will go to Tripp-Delmont-Armour in Tripp tonight.
Lower Brule 71, Colome 45
LOWER BRULE - Wil Edwards recorded a triple-double as Lower Brule shot 52 percent from the field an a 71-45 victory over Colome.
Four players scored in double figures for the Sioux including Edwards, who tallied 18 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. Devon Saul, Eltwin Grassrope and Trent Bad Horse each netted 11 points for the victors.
Josh Sherman scored a game-high 20 points for Colome. Ethan Vobr chipped in with 13 points.
Lower Brule moves to 6-6 overall and Colome falls to 9-6. Both teams play in the Highmore Classic on Saturday with Lower Brule facing Jones County.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 61, Pine Ridge 53
EAGLE BUTTE - Cheyenne Eagle Butte downed Pine Ridge 61-53 as Chase Pay Pay scored a game-high 20 points for the Braves in the win.
Sam Mendoza, Jerad Peneaux and Trevoun Buffalo each scored 10 for the winners, who led at the first three quarter stops en route to the win.
Pine Ridge was led by Roman Leftwich's 13-point effort.
CEB (7-7) will host Crow Creek at home on Saturday.
Pine Ridge (1-16) will take on Bennett County in Martin on Tuesday.
GIRLS GAMES
Pierre 37, Mitchell 30
MITCHELL - State Class AA No. 2 Pierre held off a stubborn Mitchell squad 37-30 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference game on Thursday night.
The Lady Governors did not have anyone in double figures, as Steph Paluch and Tristan Rogers scored eight points each for Pierre.
Megan Sexton scored 10 to lead the Kernels, who managed to hit only eight field goals in the contest.
Mitchell (1-12) will play in Sturgis tonight and Spearfish on Saturday in non-conference games. Pierre (11-3) will play in Brookings tonight in another ESD game.
Sully Buttes 67, Gettysburg 40
GETTYSBURG - No. 3 Class B Sully Buttes had little trouble in dispatching Gettysburg as Alexis Yackley and Kylee Lamb combined for 39 points in the win.
The Chargers held the Battlers to only five first-quarter points and steadily improved on the margin the rest of the way.
Yackley had 21, Kylee Lamb 18 and Elizabeth Lamb 11 for Sully Buttes.
Gettysburg was led by Calley Worth's 13 points.
Kylee Lamb and Erica Guthmiller collected 10 rebounds each for the Chargers while Chelsey Poeppel and Kirsten Cronin had eight boards each for the Battlers.
Sully Buttes (15-1) will host Campbell County and Gettysburg (5-12) entertains Aberdeen Roncalli in Saturday contests.
Todd Co. 46, Chamberlain 41
CHAMBERLAIN - Todd County rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Chamberlain 46-41, as the Lady Falcons outscored the Cubs 15-8 down the stretch.
"They made the plays when they had to, and we didn't," Chamberlain head coach Mark Harming said.
"We played well, we just couldn't finish."
Christine Crow Eagle scored 11 and Shelby Hunger added 10 for the Lady Falcons, who overcame a 33-31 deficit entering the final stanza.
Kelsey Schindler scored a game-high 16 points to go along with 12 rebounds to lead the Cubs.
Chamberlain (3-14) hosts St. Francis and Todd County (10-7) entertains Mobridge in Saturday games.
Edgemont 60, Oelrichs 31
EDGEMONT - Edgemont raced out to a 21-3 lead en route to a 60-31 win over Oelrichs on Thursday night.
Liz Humiston led the Moguls with 16 points while Chyla Koller chipped in with 11 as ten Moguls scored in the contest.
Jayme Manke grabbed eight rebounds for Edgemont which collected 43 as a team on the night.
Edgemont (5-9) will host Hay Springs, Neb. on Saturday.
Bennett Co. 60, Pine Ridge 53
PINE RIDGE - In a battle of ranked Class A teams, fourth-quarter free throws made the difference as No. 4 Bennett County defeated No. 6 Pine Ridge 60-53 in girls basketball action.
The Lady Thorpes led 13-7 after the first, but trailed 30-20 at halftime. The game was knotted at 36-all after three quarters.
The Lady Warriors capitalized on Pine Ridge's foul trouble, sinking 12 free throws in the final quarter. Bennett County went 21-of-29 from the charity stripe while Pine Ridge shot 6-of-11.
Keely Krolikowski paced Bennett County with 17 points. Shawna Evans scored 15 points and Cara Kratovil netted 13.
Lacey Weston scored a game-high 26 points for Pine Ridge.
Pine Ridge (11-2 overall) hosts Winner tonight. Bennett County (13-1) hosts Valentine, Neb. on Saturday.
Little Moreau Conference
FAITH/LaPLANT - Lemmon and Faith picked up wins in the West bracket of the Little Moreau Conference tournament on Thursday.
Lemmon toppled Bison 80-56 as Chris Goldsmith scored 17 and Andrew Sackmann and Sheldon Froelich added 15 apiece for the Cowboys.
Kirk Hulm and Daniel Chapman scored 13 each for the Cardinals.
Faith defeated Harding County 59-37 as Wayne Palmer led the way for the Longhorns with 21 points.
Tal Wammen was the high point man for the Ranchers with 12.
Timber Lake held off a late scoring surge by Dupree to earn a 47-44 win in the first round of the East side of the tournament in LaPlant.
Jace Long led all scorers with 15 points for the Panthers.
Three players scored in double figures as Tiospaye Topa topped Grand River
67-36 in front of the home crowd.
Jeremy Rousseau scored a game-high 16 points. Lance White Eyes and Carlton Veo each netted 11 for the winners.
Friday's LMC games in Faith have Bison playing Harding County at 6:30 p.m. and Lemmon tipping off versus Faith at 7:30.
In LaPlant it will be Dupree playing Grand River at 6 p.m. and Timber Lake battling Tiospaye Topa at 7:30 p.m.
Philip 63, Lyman 58
PHILIP - Philip held off Lyman to claim a 63-58 win as the Scotties roared back from a 48-41 deficit by outscoring the Raiders 23-10 in the final eight minutes of the game.
Sierra Hook and Marrisa Mann scored 15 points apiece and Tylissa Fitch added 14 for Scotties who have won four in row.
Ronie Rae Moore scored 19 points and Ashley Kemnitz had 15 points to lead Lyman.
Lyman (6-9) will host Stanley County tonight and Philip (8-6) will host New Underwood on Saturday.
