Women's basketball: BHSU stays atop DAC with victory

VALLEY CITY, ND - No. 15-ranked Black Hills State University had three players score in double figures as the Lady Yellow Jackets stung Valley City State University 68-51 in Dakota Athletic Conference basketball action.

The Lady Yellow Jackets, who came into the game tied for first place in the conference, used their perimeter shooting in the first half to build a 35-23 lead at intermission.

Black Hills State hit six 3-pointers in the first half compared to the Vikings who shot just 3-18 from the 3-point line the entire game.

Lacey Haughian scored a game-high 15 points to lead Black Hills State. Alexis Krull chipped in 13 points and Katelynn Lamb added 10 points for the Yellow Jackets.

Jessica Tykwinski and Mandy Johnson scored nine points each to pace the Vikings.

Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (21-5, 9-3 DAC) travel to Jamestown College, and Valley City State (5-20, 0-12 DAC) hosts South Dakota School of Mines this afternoon.
