CUSTER - Jared Foote scored 27 points as Custer wrapped up the regular season with a 68-41 Black Hills Conference boys basketball victory over Douglas.
Foote hit five 3-pointers and netted 17 points to put the Wildcats up 25-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Patriots outscored Custer 13-10 in the second stanza to cut the lead to 13 at intermission.
Isaac Parsons also finished in double figures for Custer with 13 points and Shea Koch added 11 points.
Douglas was led by Jake Rivers who finished with 9 points.
The Wildcats held a 34-11 rebounding advantage with Parsons and Koch grabbing nine rebounds each.
Custer (17-3, 12-2 BHC) entertains Hill City in the first round of district playoffs on Monday. It'll be the fourth meeting between the two teams this season with the Wildcats having won the previous three contests.
Douglas (2-17, 2-12 BHC) starts district playoffs on Tuesday night.
Little Wound 86, Bennett County 66
KYLE - Little Wound's Brice Hornbeck recorded a double-double on the night that his No. 20 jersey was retired in front of a hometown crowd as the Mustangs sweetened the night with an 86-66 win over Bennett County.
Hornbeck led all players with 39 points and 12 rebounds. Brett Thunderhawk and Casey Montileaux each chipped in with 11 points.
Jordan High Horse scored 21 points to pace Bennett County. Austin Haynes added 18 and J.P. Slattery netted 11.
Little Wound shot 48 percent from the field compared with 41 percent for Bennett County. The Mustangs also held a 31-27 advantage on the boards.
Both teams will start District 16B action. Bennett County (6-14) takes on St. Francis Indian in first-round action on Tuesday.
Little Wound, 14-6 and the top seed, has an automatic berth in the district championship game since Pine Ridge was forced to forfeit all post-season play.
Red Cloud 77, Hill City 37
PINE RIDGE - Red Cloud's up-tempo game forced 13 Hill City turnovers in the first half alone as the Crusaders concluded the regular season with a 77-37 victory.
The Crusader defense corralled Hill City's big men and the Rangers struggled to find scoring opportunities. Red Cloud led 36-16 at halftime and built a 53-22 lead going into the final stanza.
Red Cloud was playing without starter Carl Swallow and one of their top bench players, Mike Twiss. Both were out due to sickness, but it afforded lots of playing time for everyone else.
The Crusaders had nine players score, three in double figures. Billy Scott scored a game-high 19 points; Christian McGhee added 15 and Lester Gotheridge tossed in 12.
Hudson Koel paced the Rangers with 16 points. Andy Quenzer nailed three 3s to finish the night with 10 points.
"It was a good opportunity to play all players-the bench got a lot of playing time right before districts," Red Cloud coach Matt Rama said. "We start a brand new season. This is what we've been working for all year. We're focused and ready to go."
Both teams kick off District 15A action on Monday. Hill City, 11-9, travels to Custer while No. 1-seed Red Cloud, 19-1, hosts Hot Springs.
Edgemont 62, Oelrichs 48
OELRICHS - Edgemont got the better of Oelrichs 62-48 on Friday night in a preview of their District 14B play-in game in Wall on Monday.
The neighboring towns were meeting for the first time this season.
Josh Barker scored 17 points and Arron Mower netted 13 for the Moguls now 7-13.
Oelrichs (0-17) got 14 points from Darwin Eagle Louse and 10 from Jake Periello.
Lyman 66, Wall 30
WALL - Three players scored in double figures as Lyman showed no mercy to Wall in a 66-30 boys basketball triumph to end both teams' regular season.
The Raiders took an early 24-6 lead and held a 30-17 advantage at halftime. A 21-point third quarter put the visitors up 51-24 and the Raiders would give up only six points in the final quarter.
Lyman's Tyler Ollerich led all scorers with 17 points including four 3-pointers. Lex Moore netted 11 and David Schindler added 10 points.
Darick Eisenbraun paced Wall with nine points and Joe Besson contributed seven.
The Raiders shot 41 percent from the field compared to a mere 16 percent for the Eagles.
Wall (10-10) opens District 14B play on Thursday. Lyman (14-6) heads in district action with a seven-game winning streak.
Highmore 50, Miller Area 46
HIGHMORE - Highmore had two players score in double figures as the Pirates earned a 50-46 win over Miller in boys basketball action.
The Pirates outscored the Rustlers 13-10 in the second quarter to a 28-21 lead at halftime.
Tom Gravatt paced Highmore with 17 points and Dana Keller followed with 11 points.
Miller Area was led by Aaron Zeller who finished with 10 points.
Higmore (13-7) will start district playoffs on Thursday and Miller Area (11-9) travels to Chamberlain on Tuesday in the District 11A playoffs.
McLaughlin 95, St. Francis 71
MCLAUGHLIN - Vance Taken Alive and Julian Defender combined for 43 points as McLaughlin toppled St. Francis 95-71 in the final regular season game for both schools on Friday night.
Richard Spotted Tail of St. Francis took home game scoring honors with 37 points to lead all scorers.
The Midgets took over in the second quarter as they outscored the Warriors 31-11 to take a 50-34 lead at the intermission.
Martin Taken Alive dropped in 19 for McLaughlin (7-12) and Samuel Iron Thunder added 15 in the win.
T.J. Bad Hand tallied 15 for St. Francis, now 3-17 on the year.
Both teams will begin district play next week.
Newcastle 80, Wheatland 58
NEWCASTLE, Wyo. - Newcastle picked up a big win over Wheatland 80-58 on Friday night in a Wyoming high school boys game.
The Dogies had only five players put points on the scoreboard as they pulled out the win with a big second half.
Newcastle scored 54 points in the final to quarters to nail down the win.
Kade Ferguson scored a game-high 29 points while teammate Nick Pisciotti dropped in 21 for Newcastle.
Eric Heatherly scored 18 and Taylor Shepard netted 16 for Wheatland 16-5 on the season.
Newcastle (12-9) hosts Glenrock tonight in the Dogies final regular season game.
Mobridge 54, Crow Creek 48
MOBRIDGE - Two players had double doubles for Mobridge as the Tigers earned a 54-48 win over Crow Creek in a boys basketball game.
The Tigers led by one at intermission but outscored the Chieftains 16-10 in the third quarter to take the lead 38-31.
Mobridge's Kyle Chase scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, followed by Dayton Jensen with 12 points and 10 boards.
Larry Gayton scored a game-high 26 point for Crow Creek.
Mobridge (6-14) heads to the first round of the district playoffs on Tuesday.
GIRLS GAMES
District 6B
GETTYSBURG - No. 3-ranked Sully Buttes earned a region berth with a 76-41 victory over Hoven in the District 6B championship game.
The Chargers wasted no time establishing a 43-10 halftime lead which they extended to 60-22 after three quarters.
Kylee Lamb led all scorers with 23 points for the Chargers. Alexis Yackley added 16 points and Elizabeth Lamb scored 10.
Nicky Rausch paced the Greyhounds with 15 points. Hoven finishes the season 16-4.
Sully Buttes, 21-1, will face James Valley Christian, 22-1, for the Region 3B title in Huron on Tuesday.
District 12B
WAGNER - Avon came from behind and slipped past Colome 42-41 in overtime for the District 12B championship.
Colome jumped to a 12-6 lead after the first, but the two teams combined for only three points in the second quarter as Colome maintained a 13-8 lead. Avon battled back in the second half, but still trailed 26-18 heading into the final stanza. The Pirates tied it at 36-all at the end of regulation.
Kela Cihak powered the offense for Avon with 13 points. The Lady Pirates connected on 45.2 percent of their shots from the field.
Alisyn Graesser, a sophomore post, finished with a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds to collect a double-double in Colome's final game of the season. The Cowgirls finish the season 15-7.
Avon, 18-4, advances to the Region 6B game against Kimball, the District 11B champion, in Mitchell on March 1.
Sundance 30, Lusk 25
DOUGLAS, Wyo. - Sundance edged Lusk 30-25 in a 2A East Regional Consolation girls basketball game on Friday.
The Bulldogs led 8-3 after the first quarter and 16-11 at intermission.
Kylie Hughes scored a game-high 12 points to lead Sundance.
Lusk was led in scoring by Jamie Reed's 10 points.
Sundance will play the loser of the Tongue River-Wright game at 10:30 this morning in Douglas.
District 15B
MOBRIDGE - Campbell County moved one game closer to a state tournament berth after defeating Timber Lake 45-44 for the District 15B girls basketball title on Friday.
Brittany Schuetzle and Natalie VanBeek scored 12 points each to lead the Express.
The Lady Panthers were led by Kasidee Traversie's 15 points and Megan Mettler added 11 points. Timber Lake ended their season with a record of 15-6.
Campbell County (13-8) advances to the Region 8B Championship game Tuesday in Mobridge.
