Basketball: All-stars squaring off today

The annual South Dakota-Wyoming boys' and girls' all-star basketball games will be played on Friday and Saturday nights this week. the Spearfish Lions Club.

The first leg of the series will be Friday in Gillette, Wyo., with the girls tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys playing at 7:30.

The teams will then play at the Young Center in Spearfish on Saturday night with games again being played at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $5, students are $2 and children under age 10 are free. The boys game on Friday will be broadcast on The Eagle 95.9 and 96.3 FM or www.myeaglecountry.com. and both games on Saturday will also be broadcast. The South Dakota girls' team will be headed by hometown player Erika Carlson of Spearfish. Other area players include Bennett County's Kelly Krolikowski and Harding County's Amanda Jenson.

The boys' team will have a significant regional presence as Rapid City Central's Evan Sims, Sturgis' Thomas Nettleton and Tyler Hinker, Custer's Isaac Parsons, Red Cloud's Lester Gotheridge and Christian McGhee and St. Thomas More's Nathan Jacobson, Tanner Wince and Stevie Statz are all on the roster. Statz may not be able to play because of an ankle injury sustained in a pick-up game on Wednesday.
