RAPID CITY - The latest round of springtime liquid sunshine has again played havoc with local and area sports schedules.to weather, it would be rescheduled for Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m., she said.
Thursday's high school boys tennis dual between St. Thomas More and Sturgis was cancelled, as was the St. Thomas More Invitational girls golf meet at the Rapid City Elks Club Course.
Also lost were boys tennis duals involving Rapid City Stevens, Pierre and Aberdeen Central in Pierre, and the Faulkton Early Bird girls golf meet in Faulkton.
Today's scheduled tennis dual with St. Thomas More and Spearfish, set for 3 p.m. in Spearfish, is in a wait-and-see mode, according to Spearfish activities director Karen Hahn.
If that event does fall victim
Already cancelled, however, are today's duals between Rapid City Central and Huron as well as duals between Stevens, Watertown and Brandon Valley, all in the eastern part of the state expected to be hit hard by the storm.
Central activities director Darren Paulson said the Cobblers' tennis dual with Huron has been rescheduled for April 16 at noon.
Cobbler track coach Dave Dolan said a final decision regarding Saturday's Rapid City Invitational Track-O-Rama would be made today.
"We'll wait and see how the weather tracks. If we don't get too much accumulation of snow, I think we'll be OK for the meet on Saturday," said Dolan. "If not, then the meet will be next Tuesday."
The expected spring storm also forced changes in this weekend's Chadron State College rodeo in Crawford, Neb., according to the CSC information office.
Shar Sapp, CSC rodeo coach, said no performances or slack will take place today. The action will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. Another session will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The rodeo will resume at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Another performance is set for noon on Sunday, and the finals will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday night.
In college track and field, this weekend's Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson, N.D., have been cancelled.
