RAPID CITY - The Rushmore Thunder will host the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association Junior Varsity Tournament and The President's Cup in upcoming weeks.
The SDAHA junior varsity tournament will be Feb. 29-March 2.
The President's Cup, which will be held March 14-16, will feature the top two high school varsity teams from the Northern Plains District of USAHockey. The district consists of South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana.
Final area gymnastics meet this weekend
RAPID CITY - The 2008 Rushmore Invitational Gymnastics Meet, the final meet of the season in western South Dakota featuring levels 4-9, will be Feb. 23 and 24 at Just Jymnastics in Rapid City.
Kaitlyn Muehlbauer, a junior at Rapid City Christian High School, and Talia Wilson, a sophomore at St. Thomas More, will be the two Level 9 gymnasts competing for Just Jymnastics. Level 9 will be the most advanced gymnastics action this weekend. These high level gymnasts have generally been competing for six or seven years and have perfected high level skills.
Muehlbauer and Wilson will be competing at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Rules of Golf seminar offered in Sioux Falls
The South Dakota Golf Association is offering a seminar on the Rules of Golf on March 4 at the Westward Ho Country Club in Sioux Falls.
The seminar begins at 7 p.m. CST and admission is free. The new Rules of Golf books will also be given to all in attendance. There is no cost for the books.
Wendy Uzelac, director of regional affairs for the Midwest Region of the United States Golf Association, will conduct the seminar. Wendy is an experienced rules official. Not only does she conduct Rules of Golf seminars throughout the country, she also serves as a rules official at the U.S. Women's Open, U.S. Women's Amateur, U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women's Senior championships.
