SIOUX FALLS - A punishing running game led by Gannon Moore and an aerial attack directed by Ryan Hander pushed Lincoln to a dominating 49-0 victory over Sturgis on Friday at Howard Wood Field.

A week after losing to Washington 41-22, the Patriots celebrated homecoming by racking up 576 total yards while limiting the Scoopers, who have victories over both Rapid City schools already this season, to 122 total yards.

Moore, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound senior fullback, ran up the middle and over the Sturgis defensive line to tally 210 yards on 19 carries, while scoring four touchdowns.

"The coaches told us to run the ball, so we powered up and ran tough," Gannon said. "We were motivated tonight. We knew we had to make a good impression, and although we were a little slow getting started, we came out strong in the second half. Like a new team, we came out and took care of business."

After Moore scored on a pair of short runs - 2 and 1 yards - and Brett Anderson hauled in a 24-yard pass with 10 seconds left in the half, the Patriots really shook things up in the second half.

Moore scored twice more, on a 9-yard burst up the middle and then on a 98-yard run late in the third period, to put the Pats up 35-0.

Then it was Anderson's turn to shine, as he hauled in a beautiful jump-ball, over-the-back catch from the defender and ran in for the 78-yard TD.

Chris Lohan added the final score, a 7-yard run with 4:20 left in the third period.

Hander was equally as impressive at quarterback, completing 12-of-18 passes for 280 yards and two TDs, both to Brett Anderson - a 6-foot-3 receiver - covering 24 and 98 yards.

Sturgis was led by Colin Cermak, who had 64 yards on 18 carries and quarterback Joey Olson, who was 5-for-15 for 121 yards and one interception.

Lincoln visits Rapid City Central on Friday, while Sturgis is at Mitchell.
