SIOUX FALLS - The South Dakota Golf Association recently honored its players of the year, and three West River golfers received awards.

Rapid City's Mike Brummer was named the Senior Male Golfer of the Year for the third consecutive season. Fellow Rapid Citian Arlys Kraft was the Senior Female Golfer of the Year, while Lead's Lance Collins earned Junior Male Golfer of the Year honors.

Michael Martin of Brookings was the Male Golfer of the Year, and Brandon's Chelsea Cadwell was both the Female Golfer of the Year and the Junior Female Golfer of the Year.

Brummer, who in 2006 became the 33rd person to be inducted into the SDGA Hall of Game, won his record third straight Senior Championship at Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City last summer. Earlier in the year, he also placed 26th in a field of 252 players at the British Seniors Amateur Championship.

Kraft won her first career SDGA title over the summer - the Women's Senior Championship at Brookings County Club.

Collins won the Junior Championship by five shots and was the only golfer in the field to finish under par. Collins, who was runner-up in the 2006 Class A state high school tourney at Spearfish Canyon County Club, also won four the five Wells Fargo Tour events, tied for 43rd in the Two-Man Championship and won two matches at the Match Play Championship.

Martin, a 2006 graduate of Belmont University, finished runner-up in both the Match Play Championship and the Men's Amateur Championship. He also represented South Dakota in the USGA Men's Team Championship held in September in The Woodlands, Texas.

Cadwell, a senior at Sioux Falls Washington, teamed with Kati Scholten of Brookings to win the Two-Woman Championship. She also tied for third in the Women's Amateur Championship and took third in the Junior Championship. In addition, Cadwell tallied her second consecutive runner-up finish in the Class AA state high school tournament and also represented South Dakota in the USGA Women's Team Championship.
