Collins comes up just short in Arkansas
Rapid City native Wil Collins made an impressive run up the leaderboard, but fell one shot short of a playoff on Sunday, during the final round of the Nationwide Tour's Fort Smith Classic.
Collins, who fired a 6-under 64, had the second-lowest round of the day behind Jonas Blixt.
Jason Enloe emerged from an eight-man logjam to win the event. Enloe made a 2-footer for par on the first sudden-death playoff hole and held off second- and third-round leader Chris Tidland at Hardscrabble Country Club. Both finished the 72-hole tournament at 15 under.
Collins had seven birdies during his round but made bogey on the difficult par-3 8th.
"I hit a few shots in the middle of the round to get back in it," Collins told the Fort Smith Times Record on Sunday. "I played real solid, and it was a solid week. This will give me some momentum to head back to Hartford."
Collins had rounds below par on all four days, but his 64 on Sunday was the best by three stokes.
