BOX ELDER - Kara Powell and Chelsea Hughes each scored 20 points to lead Hot Springs past Douglas 50-43 in Black Hills Conference girls basketball Thursday night at Whitehead Auditorium.
The win avenges an earlier loss (51-39) to Douglas on Jan. 4 in Hot Springs.
Hughes' total included five 3-pointers, four in the third quarter to help the Lady Bison to a 16-10 advantage in the period. Powell did most of her damage from the free-throw line, connecting on 12-of-14 attempts.
Douglas led 12-5 at the end of the first quarter, but the Patriots were outscored the rest of the way.
Molly Muehl's 10 points led Douglas. Courtney Balisco added eight markers.
Douglas, 4-9 overall, 4-6 BHC, plays St. Thomas More Saturday night in Rapid City. Hot Springs 6-7 overall, 6-5 BHC, travels to Belle Fourche tonight in another BHC matchup.
