Gymnastics: Kernels dominate own Invite

MITCHELL - Mitchell gymnasts Amelia Rew and Brooke Cersosimo finished first and second, respectively, and led the Kernels to the team title at the Mitchell Invitational on Friday.

Rew had an all-around score of 38.175. She won the vault with a 9.800.

Cersosimo was just behind in the all-around with a 37.925 total. She won the beam with a 9.850, and also claimed first with a score of 9.700 in the floor exercise.

In the team standings, the Kernels ended up with 146.975 points. Watertown was second at 142.825 and Sioux Falls Lincoln (140.825) took third.

Rapid City Central placed fifth with 136.825 points, and Rapid City Stevens placed 12th with 100.200.

Watertown's Leslie Brost ended up third in the all-around with 37.450 points. She won the bars with a score of 9.275.

Raider Jenna Schroeder was seventh in the all-around with a 36.400 total. She was second in the bars.

Cobbler Ally Kraemer tied for fourth in the vault.
