For the first time ever, Rapid City teams claimed state titles in both Division I and Division II of the South Dakota Women's State Slowpitch Softball Tournament.

The Clock Tower Lounge became the first Rapid City Division I team to win the state title in eight years when it secured the title in Huron on July 19.

"We won it eight years ago, and there are three of us remaining from that team that were on this team," team manager and player Tracy Gray said. "Our defense was great, and we only gave up 13 runs in seven games."

Clock Tower Lounge lost its first game but battled all the way back to win by beating a team from Watertown twice, 11-10 and 9-4, in the championship games.

Meadowood Lanes Bud Light won the Division II title in Rapid City on July 26.

Meadowood gave up just nine runs in five games over the weekend to secure the title for the 11-player team. Meadowood defeated Brookings two out of three games it played to claim the championship.

"I think it says a lot about the kind of programs, good athletes and the talent there is in Rapid City," said Meadowood's Brandyn Crawford.

A total of 83 teams took part in the Division I tournament in Huron, while 56 played in Division II in Rapid City.
