The Canyon Lake Little League All-Stars have cruised through the District I tournament thus far.

But Wednesday night was a different story.

Timberline Little League All-Stars gave Canyon Lake all it could handle in a 6-5 come-from-behind victory for Canyon Lake.

Timberline jumped to an early three-run lead as David Reindhart hit a towering home run to deep left field, which gave Timberline a huge boost.

Timberline added two more runs in the third inning, making the score 5-2 in favor of Timberline.

With one out in the third inning, Canyon Lake was forced to bring in its ace, Lincoln Feist, and he responded by getting his team out of a bases-loaded jam.

"Lincoln (Fiest) did an excellent job on the mound in relief," said head coach Steve Nolan. "He came in and did exactly what we needed him to do to allow us an opportunity to chip away and eventually come back for the victory."

Canyon Lake was down 5-3 going into the top of the sixth inning when the heroics would begin to take place.

The inning began with a single to the outfield by Brennen Udager. A couple of miscues by Timberline's defense allowed the next two runners to reach base, loading up the bases with no one out. After a strike out, T.J. Nolan came to the plate and ripped a base hit to the outfield, scoring two runs and tying the game at five. Nolan was 4-for-4 on the evening after that two run, game-tying single. Brooks Mitizel followed with a base hit to give Canyon Lake the 6-5 final score.

The game was back in Fiest's hands as he tried to close out the game. He closed the door on Timberline in the bottom of the sixth which made his 3-2/3 innings of work allowed his offense to come back for the victory.

"Give Timberline a lot of credit for the way they played the game," Nolan said. "They were ready and they came out with us and gave us everything we could handle and then some. And I was real proud of our boys for hanging in there and not getting their heads down. They never gave up and continued to battle back."

Canyon Lake will play Harney Little League today at 7:30 p.m. at Rushmore Fields with a trip to Indianapolis on the line.
