BHSU takes down Mines for third time

Fresh off defeating South Dakota Mines to conclude the Dakota Athletic Conference regular season on Wednesday, the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets picked up a first-round DAC playoff win over their rivals in Spearfish on Saturday night at the Young Center winning 25-23, 25-21, 27-25.

The Jackets were led by Kristin Engle's 12 kills with Kayla Haines adding seven kills and seven blocks for the winners.

Maggie O'Neill recorded 22 digs with Annie Grim adding 21. BHSU setter Mandy Brumfield tallied 30 assists.

Black Hills will host a semifinal DAC game Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Minot State. The Beavers defeated Dickinson State in four games 20-25,

25-12, 25-19, 25-18 on Saturday.

BHSU won both of its matches against Minot State during the season.

South Dakota Mines closed out its season with a 12-16 mark.

Black Hills finished tied with Jamestown College atop the DAC standings with identical 13-1 records.
