AREA SCENE: Middle school wrestling tournament to be held at Central High School

Rapid City - The annual Rapid City Goodpoint Wrestling Tournament will be held Saturday at Rapid City Central High School, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

There will be 25 schools participating in the event. There will be two divisions - sixth-grade and seventh- and eighth-grade combined.

Cost for the one-day tournament is $7 for a family, $3 for adult and $1 per student.

Youth soccer team holding fundariser

RAPID CITY - The Rapid City U-12 Toxic, a girls soccer team, will be hosting a fundraising night on Dec. 11 at Pizza Hut on West Main.

The event is scheduled to run from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Customers are to mention the Toxic team and a portion of the purchase will go to help the team raise funds for International Soccer Tournament in July 2009.

Wrestlers injured

in vehicle accident

Four members of the Chadron State College wrestling team were injured in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday evening near the Colorado-Wyoming state line. The severity of the injuries has not been confirmed.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred about three miles south of the state line on Interstate 25.

The wrestlers were traveling in two sport-utility vehicles en route to Denver International Airport. From there, they planned to catch a flight to a meet in Las Vegas, Nev.

The four injured students were taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies at Loveland, Colo., according to Sgt. Bart Trippel of the Colorado State Patrol.

Orne named to all-

newcomer team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - South Dakota State University offensive lineman Woody Orne is the Jackrabbits' lone representative on the 2008 Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team.

A redshirt freshman from Fairfield, Iowa, Orne played in 10 games with six starts. He started at right tackle in the last five games of the season, helping the Jackrabbits to a

4-1 record down the stretch. Orne was part of an offensive unit that led league in passing offense, total offense and scoring offense as SDSU set a school record with 427 points scored.
